How to get here (click on the symbols below for more information).

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) serves most major international airlines. It’s located 98 miles (189 km) of the Groningen Railway Station.

The city of Groningen has direct railway connections with Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Travel time approximately 2½ hours. Groningen is well connected by train from across the Netherlands. You do have the option of buying tickets online in advance (https://www.ns.nl/en), but it is not necessary in the Netherlands. There is always plenty of room and tickets are not sold by seat. There are vending machines at every train station where you can buy a ticket.

Please note: From May 10, 2025, to July 12, 2025, extensive track maintenance will take place in Groningen. During this period, train services to, from, and via Groningen Central Station ('Hoofdstation') will be disrupted in several phases. If you are traveling from Amsterdam, it is recommended to alight at 'Groningen Europapark Station' and take bus line 2 from there to the UMCG Hoofdingang (Main entrance). From UMCG it’s only a few minutes’ walk to the Provinciehuis.

There is a taxi rank in front of Groningen Europapark Station.

For parking near the 'Provinciehuis' you can use the parking garage Forum.

For parking near the UMCG you can use the parking garage UMCG Noord.

Groningen is a very walkable and easy to navigate city. Use Google Maps to plan your route on foot.
